He paints on bases salvaged from processed scraps, all suitable material that can be "coloured".

Matera, southern Italy, Lucania was his cradle. A town with bucolic origins rooted in humility and necessity. The simplicity of its people, the sun, the stretches of ploughed fields, the swaying of ears of wheat in the wind, filled and coloured his childhood.

A journey that began there, about half a century ago, lead by curiosity and aimed at a continuous inner search.

He travelled a lot and, after prolonged stays abroad, he reached Milan where he "has been working to earn his living" for about twenty years. His memory, full of unspoken and stifled sensations, all of a sudden overflowed with colours giving rise to coloured windows, a biographical image where rivers of subdued and moulded colours come together. An instinctive need inspired by a wish to communicate with a world dominated by whirlwinds of soulless images and, often, by rivers of "nice polluting words".

His art is an expression of love towards life, an answer to the rampant pragmatism and to the never-ending advance of consumer speculation, an unstoppable trend that kills all forms of art, stifles the freedom of thought, and shuts out and mars the soul.
